Ironheart, well known to fans the world over from his eponymous releases as Luke Anders, is back to drop another genre-bending medieval banger on all of us cyber-peasants. Anders’s new single, ‘Ultra Silvam’, releases May 27th, under the cinematic electronic label, New Dawn Collective.

“The track evokes feelings of both fear and mystery,” says Anders. “Melodically, it has a bit of an Eastern/Southeastern European feel to me, so I decided to name it after the medieval Latin name for the region of Transylvania, which literally means ‘beyond the forest’. This area was not well-known to the Catholic Central and Western Europeans of the time and was often a frontier shared with the marauding nomadic peoples of the Eurasian steppe. As a result, many castles were constructed there and it is these fortifications, along with the dense forests of the region and the fearsome reputation of its people and leaders, like Vlad the Impaler, that made it a favorite setting for later dark literature and film. I view the story of this song through the lens of one of the knights/soldiers traversing the forest, unsure of what awaits him and his companions on the other side...”

Ironheart is a unique and ambitious project that centers narrative and drama. “I've always loved the power of maximal, epic orchestral music ever since I encountered it in films and video games. I listened to tons of metal growing up, which often incorporated such themes and elements, so it was natural for me to eventually want to focus on creating something along these lines.”
